Doug is a born and raised Rogue Valley local, who values honesty and a good work ethic.
He started his working career in the forestry industry, doing fuels management, firefighting, and other forestry-related work. While he enjoyed the work and learned a lot, he realized that the extended periods away from home were not ideal for his newlywed status and his plans to start a family. He wanted a profession that allowed him to work around trees while being able to come home every night and invest in his family.
Doug knew that climbing trees was a profession, thanks to his friend and even his mother, who had climbed trees when he was young. He figured that he could use his chainsaw skills from the forestry industry to climb trees and make a living at it. He invested in climbing gear and started climbing trees, doing various pruning and removals for family and friends.
Following that Doug began working for a reputable tree care company in the Rogue valley as a crew leader and climbing arborist. His job responsibilities ranged from crown restoration pruning to large-scale tree removals, all while maintaining his focus on continuing education as an ISA Certified Arborist.
Eventually, Doug felt that it was best to open his tree care business in the Grants Pass area, where he grew up and noticed the lack of good tree care services. He noticed that a lack of care provided by local tree cares businesses in the Grants Pass area, with many tree services doing poor pruning practices like lions tailing and topping trees.
And that’s how Siskiyou was born!
Doug’s background in the forestry industry, combined with his experience in the tree care industry, gives him a unique perspective when it comes to tree care.
